Always happy to help out my lovely sister and her family. This time, she and her husband were away, so I moved in to keep things running smoothly at their home in an inner Melbourne suburb, caring for the pets, wrangling what can only be described as a small forest of indoor and outdoor plants thanks to my brother-in-law’s green thumb, and “supervising” my teenage nephews (read: occasionally sighting them as they immersed themselves in music and creative projects… though we still managed plenty of fun together, like after-school pizza and ice cream outings).
Before anyone gets ideas—no, this does not mean you can escape and leave me with your teenagers (or children!). I don’t offer nephew (or any child) sitting services (only my lovely nephews, of course). Houses, pets, and plants/gardens are much more my thing. 😂
I also adore my other “charges” there—Luna the Frenchie, who thinks a long walk is entirely optional and will dramatically plonk herself on the nearest nature strip if she gets too hot or tired, and Cody, the fiercely independent cat. Cody and I have an understanding: when I’m in charge, she’s absolutely allowed on the bed (a privilege normally denied when the family’s home). Completely spoilt… but I stand by my decisions.
